The information provided in this ninety minute DVD covers equine ground schooling. The material is directed to those interested in the horse as a partner in the field of equine assisted activities and therapies. Professional and amateur equestrians alike will benefit from the concepts presented.
The material covered was developed from Margo Dewkett’s 40+ years of knowledge in the schooling of equine enthusiasts and horses. Margo’s career ranges from being a jockey and race horse trainer, breeder of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse race horses to the Founder/Executive Director of a PATH Intl. premier accredited center, a PATH Intl. Master Certified Instructor and PATH Intl. Driving Instructor – Level II benefiting children and adults with disabilities. It is this knowledge that is used to school Windridge’s staff and horses. The horses we accept into our program range in ages from five to eight years old, of various light and draft horse breeds with diverse backgrounds (roping, dressage, jumping, racing, performance, trail, carriage driving and abuse). Through training techniques that Margo has developed over the years the horses are able to be re-schooled to perform at any gait, within any type of environment, while adhering to the aids of their riders who are children and adults with disabilities. The training principles and handling techniques the horses receive eliminate ill-behavior or undesirable habits, re-school abused horses and eliminate burn-out allowing the horses to remain at Windridge throughout their life time.
