Our horses are the heart and soul of our services.
Windridge is a premier accredited center with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) Int’l and adheres to their high standards of horse care.
All Windridge horses are kindly donated by their owners to help provide Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) to our participants. All prospective equine staff undergo a health and soundness evaluation by a veterinarian. Prior to acceptance into our program Windridge conducts its own evaluation of each horse to ensure their suitability for our participants. Once accepted, each horse goes through specialized training to accommodate the various needs of our participants.
Our equine staff have dedicated their lives to providing effective EAS to our participants; in turn we work to provide them with the best care and life possible. Including, but not limited to, yearly veterinary exams, vaccinations, medications, hay, grain (or feed), and supplements. When our horses are not providing beneficial movement to our participants, they enjoy grazing in our pastures as a herd.
When donors choose to sponsor a horse, they are also supporting our programs and participants. It is through the support of donors that we can deliver safe and effective EAS to our participants and provide our equine staff with optimal care.
